Patna: Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Anand Mishra has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a significant transition from policing to politics. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Mishra said his decision was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for a Developed India, today I begin a new chapter as a dedicated worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” Mishra wrote.

A Career Dedicated to Public Service

Mishra, who served in the Indian Police Service for several years, emphasized that his career had always been guided by the principle of service to the nation. He highlighted his contributions towards building a crime-free and secure society while staying connected with the grassroots.

“During my long career in the IPS, I always placed service to the nation and society above all else and contributed with full sincerity towards building a crime-free and secure society. This journey also gave me the opportunity to directly connect with the common people, understand their aspirations, and witness their struggles closely,” Mishra stated.

Announcing his entry into active politics, Mishra expressed confidence that this new path would allow him to make a “more meaningful contribution” towards resolving public issues and ensuring holistic development.

“I firmly believe that by walking on this new path of politics, I will be able to make an even more meaningful contribution towards resolving public issues and ensuring holistic development of society,” he noted.

Mishra extended his gratitude to the BJP’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Health Minister Mangal Pandey. He pledged to uphold the party’s values and vision, ensuring outreach to every section of society.
