Modi, Trump Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening India-US Trade Relations

PM Modi Calls US ‘Natural Partner’, Confident of Stronger India-US Trade Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed the strong partnership between India and the United States, expressing confidence that ongoing trade negotiations will unlock the full potential of bilateral relations.

In a post on X, Modi described India and the US as “close friends and natural partners” and said both nations are working to conclude trade discussions at the earliest. “I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people,” he wrote.

The post came shortly after former US President Donald Trump announced that India and the US are continuing negotiations to address trade barriers. Trump praised his “very good friend, Prime Minister Modi” and said he looked forward to their upcoming talks. He expressed optimism that the negotiations would reach a successful conclusion, calling it beneficial for both countries.

The renewed emphasis on trade cooperation highlights the importance of India-US economic ties, which have grown steadily in recent years despite occasional disputes. Both sides are seeking to strengthen collaboration in technology, defense, energy, and investment, positioning the partnership as a key pillar in the global economic and geopolitical landscape.
